This project is a complete custom redesign of the Alfa Romeo GT front bumper, created to give this classic coupe a fresher, more modern look. The goal was to make the GT visually closer to the Alfa Romeo Giulietta and the latest Alfa Romeo design language, while keeping the car’s original sporty character.
The entire process was fully designed from scratch by me. During the concept stage, I use Gravity Sketch in virtual reality (VR), which allows me to sculpt and experiment with the proportions directly in 3D space. Thanks to this technology, I can very quickly test different design directions and see how the new front bumper flows with the original GT body lines – a huge advantage compared to traditional CAD-only methods.
Once the shape is finalized with the client, I carry out precise 3D modeling of the bumper. The digital model is then 3D printed in full scale, creating a prototype that becomes the master for fiberglass mold making. This step ensures that the final fiberglass front bumper perfectly matches the design vision and can be mounted on the Alfa Romeo GT.
By blending VR sketching, advanced CAD design, 3D printing technology, and fiberglass production, this project delivers a one-of-a-kind custom bumper upgrade. The result is an Alfa Romeo GT that now has a modern, Giulietta-inspired front end, while still retaining its unmistakable Italian style and character.
